Qlayers’ 10Q Robot Earns Aramco Qualification

for Storage Tank Coating

Qlayers’ 10Q robotic coating solution successfully completed a project at Aramco’s Wasit Gas Terminal in Saudi Arabia, demonstrating its exceptional performance in harsh environment conditions.

This project has culminated in Aramco’s official qualification of the 10Q system for applying external coatings to storage tanks across their facilities.

The project, conducted in June-July 2023, presented a significant challenge due to the region’s extreme heat, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. Despite these demanding conditions, the 10Q robot delivered a series of key results:

• Enhanced Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Profile: By eliminating the need for manual work at height by an estimated 70%, the 10Q robot significantly reduces worker exposure to hazardous environments and minimizes fall risks.
• Increased Operational Efficiency: Compared to traditional methods, the 10Q robot completed the project 5 times faster. This translates to reduced downtime for critical assets, leading to cost savings.
• Environmental Sustainability: The 10Q robot’s precise application process virtually eliminates overspray, minimizing paint waste and reducing the project’s environmental footprint.
• Weather resistance: The 10Q robot’s ability to continue operating under changing weather conditions underscores its adaptability and reliability.

Based on the successful project completion, Aramco’s Inspection & Drilling (ID) and Construction Services Department (CSD) have officially qualified the Qlayers’ 10Q system for applying external coatings to storage tanks across their facilities. This qualification encompasses the entire robotic system, including the 10Q robot itself and the associated method statement.
