Who is Qlayer?

Qlayers is a young, passionate start-up situated in Delft, the Netherlands, that is disrupting the way we think about coatings. The company was founded in August 2017 and has increased it’s size fivefold since then. Qlayers’ vision is to make each surface functional. Just like nature has been doing it, only better. Qlayers envisions to automate coating processes worldwide, by delivering functional surfaces as a service. Do you want a surface that produces electricity, heals or cleans itself, reduces drag or doesn’t freeze? Qlayers will make it happen.

Ruben and Josefien started Qlayers based on a dream to improve the world with material science. Ruben passionate about technology, Josefien passionate about sustainability. Together they form a very complementary management team with the ambition to make each surface functional.

A normal day in Qlayers starts with a warm good morning coffee or tea followed by a healthy lunch, wherein we discuss our progress, challenges and hobbies. We believe that efficiency rises when a nice working atmosphere is created. Every week, a presentation on a topic of interest is given by one of our team members, it helps us to keep learning, get to know each other better and encourages the team spirit. We are a multilingual team with members from the Netherlands, India, Poland, Spain, Greece and Belgium, which means that every day we discover something new about different cultures. Our team is full of people that definitely want to improve our world with high-end technologies.
