ABOUT THE JOB

At Qlayers, we’re transforming the way large industrial assets, such as ships and storage tanks, are coated. Our patented robotic technology delivers higher-quality coatings, improves efficiency, and helps reduce the environmental impact of industrial maintenance.

As our Technical Production Lead, you’ll help build the production organization behind this technology. You’ll combine hands-on manufacturing with technical leadership, ensuring our robotic systems are built to the highest quality standards while continuously improving the way we work.

This is a role with real ownership. You’ll spend time on the production floor, lead by example, solve technical challenges, improve processes, and work closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Quality to prepare our production team for the next stage of growth.

Your key responsibilities:

Production Execution & Team Leadership:

  • Lead on a technical basis a small production team that might expand in the future, ensuring internal manufacturing is completed on time and to specifications
  • Organize daily tasks and ensure efficient use of resources in the workshop
  • Act as the key point of contact for production-related issues, troubleshooting problems as they arise
  • Set-up new production lines (internal and external) for new to be developed product lines
  • Improve the processes within production to enhance quality and efficiency
  • Execute production tasks in the production line where necessary.

Quality Control & FAT:

  • Ensure that all internally produced components meet required quality standards
  • Conduct and oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) to validate final products before delivery
  • Implement corrective actions in case of non-conformity, working with relevant teams to resolve issues.

Supplier & Process Quality Improvement:

  • Monitor and improve the quality of production processes
  • Assess and collaborate with suppliers to enhance the quality of externally produced parts
  • Work with procurement and engineering teams to address supplier-related quality concerns.

We are looking for

Professional qualifications and skills:

  • MBO+/HBO working and thinking level, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical production or manufacturing environment, ideally within machine building, robotics, automation, or industrial equipment
  • Experience leading or coaching a small production team in a hands-on environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical assembly processes and production workflows
  • Experience with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), quality control, and structured problem solving
  • Experience setting up, improving, or scaling production processes
  • Comfortable working with technical drawings, assembly instructions, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, procurement, and suppliers
  • A practical mindset with strong organizational and communication skills
  • Fluent in English.

You are someone who:

  • Leads by example and enjoys working alongside the team
  • Likes building and improving rather than maintaining the status quo
  • Takes ownership and isn’t afraid to make decisions
  • Solves problems in a structured and pragmatic way
  • Has a keen eye for quality and continuous improvement
  • Thrives in a fast-moving scale-up where no two days are the same.

We offer:

  • Gross monthly salary €3500 – €4300. The exact amount depends on the seniority of the candidate.
  • 8% holiday allowance
  • 25 vacation days
  • Flexible working hours
  • Pension plan
  • Tight-knit team
  • Growth opportunities
  • Self-development opportunities
  • Flat hierarchy while still maintaining professional management.
