Happy to announce our participation in the AIRTuB innovation project to automate and repair the inspection of wind turbines. Together with LM Wind Power, we will develop a “state-of-the-art” solution. We will print smooth leading edge with chamfered surface over a wind tunnel model and verify the aerodynamic properties. The AIRTuB objectives are: • Develop a fully tested prototype of an autonomous UAV, including sensor payload, which can detect structural and surface damage and transfer it in the form of data. • Develop models for structural defects and leaf erosion yield impact for asset management and operational decisions • Technology for develop automated application of sheet coatings. • Design software for automatically classifying leaf damage and generating automatic repair 'recipes'. Ultimate goal of the project: no unnecessary downtime and no need for on-site maintenance of the offshore wind energy system. More information about the project can be found here: https://www.worldclassmaintenance.com/rvo-projectsubsidie-fieldlab-zephyros/ The festive kick-off of this project is planned for mid-September in Vlissingen. We will keep you posted!
